Olympics LIVE: Olyroos crash out against Egypt

The Hockeyroos’ Tokyo campaign rolls on nicely, tonight making it three from three with a hard-fought 1-0 win over to Japan to ensure their place in the quarter-finals.

Australia, despite sitting well above their opponents in the world rankings, were forced to dig deep with Maddy Fitzpatrick’s goal in the third quarter enough to get the win.

The Hockeyroos’ defence needed to hold firm over the last four minutes after Renee Taylor was given her second yellow card, meaning they were reduced to 10 players for the rest of the match.

Sitting at the top of Pool B, the Hockeyroos face stiff opposition in their last two pool matches against New Zealand and Argentina.
