Roosters star banned, fined over party incident

UPDATE: Sydney Roosters hardman Victor Radley has been suspended for two matches and fined over a December incident in Byron Bay.

Radley has accepted a breach notice for breaking the game’s code of conduct, after he tackled a member of the public in the street.

He’s been suspended for two matches and fined $20,000, with $10,000 suspended for 12 months. The penalty reflects the fact Radley failed to report the incident.

He’s also been directed to complete an education and training course.

Nine’s Danny Weidler broke the story this morning.

“In relation to a party incident in December last year, the NRL have been looking at this altercation for quite some time,” Weidler reported.

The suspension is academic, given Radley is still sidelined with a knee injury.

He missed much of the 2020 season after rupturing his ACL in June and the Roosters website says he’s targeting a return to the field in the “early rounds” of 2021. He hasn’t been named in the squad to play Manly on Saturday.
