Barty controversy rumbles as new rankings revealed

Novak Djokovic remains No.1 in the ATP rankings on 12,030 points after the Australian Open. Djokovic won his ninth Open title and 18th Grand Slam, beating Daniil Medvedev 7-5 6-2 6-2 in the final. Here, Djokovic lifts the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup yet again. His victory will ensure that he breaks Roger Federer’s record of 310 weeks ranked No.1, on March 8. “After achieving the historic No.1 for the longest weeks, it’s going to be a relief for me because I’m going to focus all my attention on Slams mostly,” Djokovic said. “When you are going for No.1 rankings, you kind of have to be playing the entire season and you have to be playing well, you have to play all the tournaments.” Djokovic’s semi-final victim, Russian bolter Aslan Karatsev, was the big mover in the revised ATP rankings, soaring from 114th to 42nd; up 72 places.
