Kyrgios set for Australian Open tune-up event

Australian tennis weapon Nick Kyrgios is set to feature in an Australian Open lead-up event also boasting grand slam champions Stan Wawrinka and Marin Cilic.

The three stars will take to Melbourne Park for the Murray River Open, which is set to begin on Monday and wrap up next Sunday.

Among the rest of the field will be world No.19 and 2017 ATP Finals champion Grigor Dimitrov, one of 16 seeded men set to tune up for Melbourne’s grand slam in the exhibition event.

A total of seven Australians will compete in the Murray River Open in Kyrgios, James Duckworth, Alexei Popyrin, Thanasi Kokkinakis, Alex Bolt, Marc Polmans and Bernard Tomic.

A second ATP 250 event called the Great Ocean Road Open is also set to take place at Melbourne Park from February 1-7.

That will be headlined by world No.14 David Goffin and seed No.20 Karen Khachanov – two of 16 seeded players – while Australians Jordan Thompson, Chris O’Connell and Aleksandar Vukic will also touch down.

The Murray River Open and Great Ocean Road Open will run alongside the ATP Cup (February 2-6).
